At Ash Tree Boat Club, our members enjoy a full calendar of cruising and social events throughout the year, bringing boaters together for fun, friendship, and time well spent on the water. Wherever possible we try to include an opportunity for non-boating members to join in for some part of the cruise activities.
🚤 Valentine’s Cruise to Bishton
We kick off the cruising season around late February with a relaxed trip on the Trent & Mersey Canal. For the last few years we have cruised to Handsacre/Tuppenhurst. It’s a gentle cruise, just enough to dust off the cobwebs, and includes meeting up with other members in a nearby tea shop or hostelry.
🐣 Easter Bonnet Cruise
The Easter Cruise spans the long weekend and heads to various destinations, including Weston, Branston and Salt. In recent years, we have cruised to Whittington to support Eric Woods’ coffee morning which raises funds for the Lichfield and Hatherton Canal Trust. Put on your best Easter bonnet and get into the spirit!
⚓ Commodore’s Cruise
This week-long Spring Bank Holiday adventure would see us travelling further afield. The Ashby Canal, Stourport, Gas Street Basin and Whaley Bridge, to name a few, every year brought a new journey to enjoy together. This cruise has lapsed since the pandemic but we hope to re-instate it in the near future.
🎉Celebration Cruise
Towards the end of June we have introduced a celebration cruise. Two members share the same birthday at the same time as a couple of our members share their wedding anniversary. This happily coincides with the open garden weekend in Alrewas which has become our regular destination.
🍂 Autumn Cruise
Setting off for a weekend getaway on the water, members cruise together to a chosen destination where the fun continues, maybe with the annual conker competition, a little treasure hunt or simply an evening get-together.
🤝 Club Rallies & Visiting Other Clubs
We regularly attend boating rallies, gatherings and even holidays hosted by other clubs, giving us the chance to connect with like-minded boaters and take part in classic inter-club games. It’s all good fun, with a touch of friendly rivalry.
